I am nine credits away from graduating (cue confetti) and rather than apply for graduate school immediately, I am looking into other opportunities overseas (more on where I'll be headed will have to wait for another post). So, I'm writing statements on why I want to teach English, why I'd like to travel, and how my upbringing has shaped who I am today.
But while I'm busy writing, I'd like to hear from you (and
please don't be shy)!
If you were to pick five countries (or cities) to visit, what would they be? And if you feel like it, why'd you pick these places?
(one of my most favorite cities, philadelphia)
I really want to go to Italy, Greece, Israel, China, and Germany... and probably everywhere else humanly possible, but those are definitely the toppers.
ReplyDelete1. australia - hillsong, sydney opera house, great barrier reef, ayers rock, kangaroos, need i go on?
ReplyDelete2. british isles - scenery, history, london, etc.
3. NYC - been once for 1 day, going soon again for 1 day, but i want to go for at least a week - shopping, dining, BROADWAY, central park, BROADWAY!!!
4. hawaii - volcanos, deserted beaches, flowers
5. italy - went for a week on a high school trip and it was amazing. soooo want to go back, especially to venice.
Hmm. I think for now I'll have to go with Denver, England, Israel, France, and Singapore (or maybe just somewhere in Asia).
ReplyDeleteGood question!
ReplyDelete1. Australia -- for the reasons Emma gave, except opera house. Also, for the astronomy. Southern constellations, upside down moon, dark skies! Oh, and all of that is linked to photography, of course.
2. Japan -- for the culture
3. England -- visit friends, haunted castles, and Dr. Who! Photography goes along with it.
4. Arizona -- visit friends, exotic landscape
5. Alaska -- glaciers, incredible mountains, elk, good photography!
I love the responses so far! I suppose I ought to list my own selections:
ReplyDelete1. Canada (Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, Vancouver, especially). I feel that I need to explore more of my friendly neighbor to the north. Living only forty minutes from the border, there are lots of jokes about Canadiens but I'd like to see what the country has to offer :)
2. New York City, for the same reasons as you Emma!
3. Istanbul. It's where east has traditionally met west. I've studied the country so much, it'd be fun to SEE it!
4. Austria, because of the mountains and because Mozart lived in Vienna.
5. Germany. The land of Bach and Beethoven. Oh, and because my family is from there!
