Merry Christmas

For unto us a child is born,

to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David's throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.

Starting my photography portfolio...

I purchased 3 albums from Border's this afternoon for only $2.99 each. 2 of them are big black ones with sturdy paper and the second has smaller, but still nice thick pages. I've been ordering more prints and adding them. Quite nice...and relatively inexpensive.

Birthday!

My sister Elaina is celebrating her 4th birthday today. The theme is Candyland (like the kiddie game), so yours truly set to work this morning and created a cake that looked like the Candyland game board.

To see some other delectable creations, click here. (I've made other cakes before, I've just never photographed them before.) And no, I'm not currently soliciting cake orders...at least not yet!

Life

Life has happened to me recently. I'm sure 99.9% of you know what that's like.

Currently, I'm in school and that takes up most of my time. But next semester, I am seriously considering going through several photo courses, so you'll probably see more from me...and possibly from my new camera. About half of this blog is photos and the other half happens to be updates on why I haven't posted. This needs to be remedied soon!

If you're looking for some photos to browse through in your spare time (ha! Spare time has turned into a novelty of sorts...), I suggest digging through my best of section or taking a look at some other photography blogs!

Saturday's Random Pictures

I have so many random pictures, but I don't know what to do with them. So, I figured I'd start a little feature each Saturday where I'd share some random pictures. This is the first installment.

-Enjoy-

Summer roses

Tis the Last Rose of Summer
By: Thomas Moore
'Tis the last rose of summer,Left blooming alone,All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone.No flow'r of her kindred
No rosebud is nigh
To reflect back her blushes,

Or give sigh for sigh.

I'll not leave thee, thou lone one,
To pine on the stern,

Since the lovely are sleeping,

Go, sleep thou with them

Thus kindly I'll scatter

Thy leaves o'er the bed,

Where thy mates of the garden

Lie scentless and dead.
So soon may I follow When friendships decay;
And from love's shining circle

The gems drop away

When true hearts lie wither'd
And fond ones are flow'n
Oh! Who would inhabit

This bleak world alone?

Oh dear...

It appears that my camera batteries work just fine. They just won't work with my camera which leads me to believe that either my camera is dying or my recharger is just being plain ol' funky. If my camera needs replacing...well, I won't be getting one anytime soon because funds are low. That would be a heart-breaker for me, because I obviously love, love, love photography.

Anywho, that's the update on my camera. Hopefully I find out what's wrong asap. The Rebelution conference is coming up and I'm meeting many new friends there. I'd hate to not have a camera...

*is freaking out*

EDIT:: My camera is fine and my batteries appear to be working so far. Yay! See my latest photo essay :)

Which One Should I Get???

Above: Nikon D80
Above: Canon Rebel XTi (I'm actually looking at quite a few Canon's)

At this point, I'm leaning towards the Nikon because I've used one a few times before. It feels much better than the Canon. But still...I hear a few good things about the Canon and am torn.

Which do you recommend? Is the XTi the best Rebel out there? Do you recommend a different model?

Blogger Meet-up!

This evening, we had a wonderful time meeting Peter (formerly of Pete's Place) and Hannah (Hannahlee Photography) G. We had a blast hanging out! Here's a few pictures...more to follow (hopefully)!

Discussing the Mustang

Getting arrested was definitely a highlight! (Okay, this was just a photo op!)

At University of Michigan stadium (L to R: Peter, Hannah, myself and my bro. Jason)

Hannah and I (the Rebelution pose has become infinitely famous)

We're dumpster divers!

Look at those strong guys. They flipped the cement bench over!

What a Whirlwind!

Wow - 2 weeks goes by fast! I have done so much in those weeks it's unbelievable. Here's pictures from my travels to Kentucky, graduation and piano recitals. I am working on a new photo set that should be released sometime this week!

Graduation

(Don't mind the other gown colors -- there were high schoolers from other schools being honored). I am in the white gown, second row up.
